  • Fitter / Welder

    Position Summary:

    Utilize all safe practices and procedures, layout, fit, and fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel members in accordance with job specifications, which include drawings, applicable code requirements, and company expectations. Use trade knowledge, personnel skill set, company resources, assets to interpret and define job requirements. Gain mandatory approval for work operations where procedural information is unavailable. Maintain an exemplary employee reputation.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintain professional conduct, punctual attendance, dependability, and respect of shop schedules.
    • Consistently use required PPE and always apply safe practices according to company policy and industry standard on CoreBrace property.
    • Recognize and addresses safety hazards in all process applications. Report all safety hazards to the supervisor or management immediately.
    • Capable of safely lifting 65 Lbs. without mechanical means.
    • Be organized, coordinated, and maintain a clean work area, and a positive attitude.
    • Physical ability to perform task requirements and work extended hours in a physically demanding environment.
    • Read and interpret shop and Engineered drawing & specifications.
    • Study and apply job specifications, company, and code standards as required with minimal assistance.
    • Measure, layout, cut, assemble, secure, and weld as needed and allocate time saving tasks to other employees aiding in fabrication.
    • Inspect work and assure quality requirements are met.
    • Capable of continually meeting and/or exceeding shop expectations.
    • Continual pursuit of self and process improvement.
    • Safe use of personal and company equipment.
    • Able to adapt to a changing environment and willingness to learn.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:
    • Prefer Highschool Diploma/GED, or equivalent. Minimum 2 years’ experience with heavy structural fabrication.
    • Professional conduct, self-motivated, independent, and able to work safely with minimal supervision.
    • Able to lift at least 65lbs. and understand when to utilize mechanical means of material handling to minimize personal risk.
    • Clear understanding of (WPS’s), Welding Procedure Specifications, their use, and maintain parameter specifications as required.
    • Clear understanding of welding symbols and welding process applications.
    • Understand shop tolerances and their application to CoreBrace products.
    • Comprehension of code standard and Shop Visual Weld acceptance criteria. (I.e., AWS D1.1, Table 6.1)
    • Attention to detail and able to multi-task in a fast passed environment

    Physical Demands:
    • Ability to work for extended hours in a physically demanding environment.
    • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
    • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell; lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:
    • Frequently exposed to hot/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and extreme hot/cold conditions.
    • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemical; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration.
    • Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
