Retrofit of the 12 story H Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. Originally built in the early 1960’s, this non-ductile concrete building was retrofitted with external buckling restrained braced frames (BRBF’s). A single bay BRBF was added near the center of each of the 4 external walls in “2-story X” configurations. This minimized disruptions of the interior finishes and structure during construction.
