Located in Charleston, South Carolina the new MUSC Children’s Hospital is a 625,000-square-foot facility providing integrated medical care for children, as well as obstetrical services for women. It is the only Level 1 Children’s Surgery Center in South Carolina. The building was designed with resiliency in mind including Buckling-Restrained Braces for seismic performance, exteriors that are strategically selected to meet hurricane-force winds and resist the impact of flying debris, and many other design features for other natural disasters.
