The existing Kennecott Building was renovated to fill the need of the expanding College of Engineering at the University of Utah campus. A seismic study of the existing building revealed the need to upgrade the lateral force resisting system. CoreBrace BRBs provided a cost effective and aesthetic solution for the building design team. Much of the structure has been left exposed to give the students occupying the space a form of “hands-on” learning.
