University of Auckland Science Center

Auckland, New Zealand

The 13-story Science Tower at University of Auckland was one of the first buildings in New Zealand to use BRBs. The $290M redevelopment utilized cellular beams, welded columns and 110 BRBs mounted on the building’s perimeter. Exterior exposed BRBs were galvanized for weather protection, while interior braces were painted with a zinc-rich paint.
