The University of Mexico Azcapotzalco (UAM) was ranked as the second best public Mexican University in 2018. The university was originally established in 1974 and, in 2014, Building G received a retrofit allowing increasing its capacity to resist seismic activity. The retrofit included 192 Pinned CoreBraces. In 2017 Mexico experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake with the epicenter about 70 miles south of Mexico City. At least 44 buildings in Mexico City collapsed during the earthquake. The UAM Building G was withstood the earthquake with remarkable performance.
